Welcome to Renme.app. By making a booking through our platform, you agree to the following terms and conditions regarding the rental process, payment, item return, and responsibilities for both Renters and Listers. Please read these terms carefully before proceeding with your booking.
1. Booking and Service Fee
1.1 Service Fee:
- A non-refundable service fee of 1% of the total booking amount will be charged for each transaction. This fee is used to cover administrative costs and ensure the smooth operation of the platform.
- Even in the event of a cancellation or refund (full or partial), the service fee will not be returned.
1.2 Security Deposit:
- Listers may require a security deposit to safeguard against damages or the failure to return the item. The deposit amount will be clearly stated at the time of booking.
- The security deposit is refundable after the booking period has ended and the Lister has confirmed that the item was returned in satisfactory condition by marking the booking as complete.
2. Responsibilities of the Renter
2.1 Item Pickup:
- Renters are responsible for picking up the rented item from the Lister at the agreed-upon location and time unless both parties mutually agree to a different arrangement (e.g., delivery or shipping).
- Failure to pick up the item within the agreed timeframe without prior notice or arrangement may result in forfeiture of the booking fee and security deposit.
2.2 Recording the Condition of the Item:
- Upon receiving the item, Renters are strongly advised to document its condition. This may include taking photos or videos to ensure there is a clear record of the item’s state at the time of pickup.
- This documentation may be used to resolve any disputes related to damage claims at the time of return.
2.3 Item Use and Care:
- The Renter agrees to use the item with care and in accordance with any specific instructions provided by the Lister.
- The Renter is responsible for any damage beyond normal wear and tear or loss of the item during the rental period.
2.4 Item Return:
- The Renter must return the item in its original condition (accounting for normal wear and tear) by the end of the booking period. If additional time is needed, the Renter should contact the Lister to request an extension. However, extensions are subject to the Lister’s approval.
- If the item is returned in a damaged state or with missing parts, the Renter may forfeit the security deposit, and additional fees may be charged for repairs or replacement.
3. Forfeiture of Security Deposit
3.1 Forfeiture Circumstances:
- The security deposit will be forfeited if the Renter fails to return the item on time, does not return it in its original condition (beyond normal wear and tear), or fails to return the item altogether.
- If the Renter does not pick up the item from the Lister as agreed, the booking will be considered forfeited, and both the booking fee and security deposit will be non-refundable.
3.2 Deposit Refund:
- The security deposit will only be refunded once the Lister marks the booking as complete after confirming that the item has been returned in satisfactory condition.
4. Listers’ Responsibilities
4.1 Condition of the Item:
- Listers are responsible for ensuring that items listed for rent are in good working condition, clean, and ready for use by the Renter.
- Listers should clearly communicate any special conditions or instructions for using the item to avoid misunderstandings.
4.2 Booking Completion:
- After the rental period ends, the Lister must mark the booking as complete once they confirm that the item has been returned in the same condition. This action will trigger the refund of the security deposit to the Renter, provided there are no disputes regarding the item’s condition.
5. Cancellation Policy
5.1 Cancellations by Renters:
- Renters may cancel a booking prior to the rental start date in accordance with the cancellation policy set by the Lister. The specific terms (e.g., whether full or partial refunds are allowed) will vary depending on the Lister’s policy.
- In all cases, the service fee is non-refundable, even if the booking is cancelled.
5.2 Cancellations by Listers:
- Listers may cancel a booking before the start date, in which case the Renter will receive a full refund of the booking fee and the security deposit (if applicable).
6. Dispute Resolution
If any disputes arise regarding the booking, return, or condition of the rented item, both the Renter and Lister should attempt to resolve the matter through direct communication. If a resolution cannot be reached, Renme.app may intervene as a mediator, though it is not obligated to do so. Our team may request documentation from both parties to help resolve disputes.
7. Limitation of Liability
Renme.app is a platform that facilitates transactions between users (Listers and Renters) and is not responsible for the condition, availability, or legality of the items listed for rent. We are not liable for any damages or losses resulting from the rental transaction between users.
